Unfranked Soldier’s Letter cancelled by “PHILIPPINE STATION, / AUG 24 1898 / SAN FRANCISCO, CAL.” duplex on cover to U.S. with Greeley, Colo. 9-25-98, REC’D backstamp. Also with and s/l “POSTAGE DUE, 2 CTS.” handstamp paid with U.S. 2c Postage Due stamp (J39) tied by Greeley duplex. Early use of first Philippine cancel only ten days after the capture of Manila. Cover with insignificant edge flaws. Attractively mounted for display or exhibit.
